We are glad to to announce that the INNOVETH project, titled "Innovative Health Intervention for Migrant Ethiopian Domestic Workers in the Middle East," has been selected for the next phase of funding under the prestigious Transdisciplinary Approaches to Mobility and Global Health joint call for 2024. Among 130 applications, only 23 were granted this opportunity. This collaborative effort involves multiple leading institutions, including Addis Ababa University, OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College, Armauer Hansen Research Institute, University of Hamburg, University of Bergen, Population Council Ethiopia, and the Ethiopian Policy Studies Institute. INNOVETH aims to address critical health challenges faced by Ethiopian migrant domestic workers in the Middle East by leveraging big data, social networks, and mobile health applications. The initiative will develop a comprehensive and innovative healthcare intervention to improve the mental, sexual, and reproductive health of these workers. The project will now receive a pilot grant to refine and submit a full application by March 4, 2025. This initiative promises significant improvements in the well-being of MDWs and exemplifies the power of international collaboration in tackling global health challenges.
