Once again at AMCIS 2025, Martin Semmann is co-chairing the Mini-Track "Shaping the Responsible Design of Human-Computer Artificial Intelligence Collaboration in Immersive Virtual Environments", together with Sofia Schöbel, Dr. Pauline Weritz, and Juuli Lumivalo. This Mini-Track is part of the Virtual Communities and Collaboration (VCC) Track and focuses on the ethical and practical challenges of AI-driven collaboration in immersive digital environments.
The Role of AI in Virtual Collaboration
With the increasing integration of AI technologies into immersive virtual environments, the way people interact, collaborate, and present themselves digitally is evolving. Users can now represent themselves through avatars, ranging from realistic to AI-generated, enabling new forms of collaboration but also raising concerns about trust, security, and ethical responsibility.
Key Research Topics of the Mini-Track:
- AI-driven avatars and their impact on virtual collaboration
- Ethical challenges of generative AI and pseudonymous identities
- Trust, privacy, and transparency in AI-supported teamwork
- Legal and societal challenges in AI-driven immersive environments
As collaboration increasingly shifts to virtual spaces, new risks and unintended consequences arise. This Mini-Track invites critical research contributions and innovative approaches to help shape a responsible digital future.
