On January 23, the Hub of Computing and Data Science (HCDS) participated in the networking event for the current grantees of #UpdateHamburg. Hosted by the Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB Hamburg), the event took place at the Körber Start-Hub, providing an opportunity for projects to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and establish new collaborations.
Innovative Projects for a Digital and Resilient City
After an introduction to the funding strategy of IFB Hamburg and the Social Entrepreneurship Alliance Hamburg, the ten funded projects had the chance to present their ideas in concise five-minute pitches. It became clear that #UpdateHamburg is supporting pioneering initiatives that contribute to making Hamburg a more digital, social, and sustainable city.
HCDS Project: AI-Based Disinformation Indicator for Hamburg Schools (KIDHHS)
As part of #UpdateHamburg, we presented our project KIDHHS – AI-Based Disinformation Indicator for Hamburg Schools. The goal is to support educators with real-time, AI-detected examples of disinformation, enhancing students' media literacy skills. By integrating real-world, up-to-date cases into the curriculum, young people learn to identify and critically assess disinformation—a crucial skill in today's digital society.
Our presentation sparked great interest, particularly regarding the application of AI in education and its practical use in classrooms. The discussions with other projects revealed exciting synergies, especially in the areas of digital education, societal resilience, and media literacy development.
An Inspiring Afternoon of Networking and Collaboration
Following the presentations, participants had the opportunity to engage in deeper conversations and explore potential collaborations over a shared meal. The event was marked by a strong sense of optimism and momentum, as all attendees were eager to start bringing their projects to life.
We would like to thank IFB Hamburg for organizing the event and all participants for the insightful exchange. We look forward to further developing the AI-Based Disinformation Indicator for Hamburg Schools and working with our partners to advance digital education in Hamburg.
