The first international workshop "Machine Learning for Biomedical Applications" was a great success! From February 5.-7., 2025, students, researchers, and AI experts gathered at the brand-new Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology on the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) campus to discuss current challenges and innovative approaches in machine learning and artificial intelligence for biomedical applications.

Three Days of Intensive Research and International Networking
The workshop was organized by the European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH) in collaboration with the Center for Biomedical AI (bAIome, UKE Hamburg) and the Hub of Computing and Data Science (HCDS). The goal was to foster international exchange and build a supportive network for young researchers working on AI and machine learning in biomedical sciences.
Participants gained insights into key research areas through expert lectures and hands-on project work, focusing on:
- Multi-omics data modeling
- Drug response prediction
- Clinical diagnostics through microscopy image analysis
- Representation learning for multimodal imaging
Interdisciplinary teams worked on real-world biomedical challenges, developing innovative AI-driven solutions.
