Our colleague Katrin Schöning-Stierand from the Hub of Computing and Data Science (HCDS) was recently featured on the podcast “Code for Thought.” In the latest episode, she joins host Peter Schmidt to discuss RSE Day 2025 in Hamburg and the growing importance of Research Software Engineering (RSE) for sustainable and future-oriented research.
The conversation covers:
- the role of Research Software Engineers in interdisciplinary research projects
- sustainable software development in academia
- community building in the Hamburg metropolitan region
- highlights and key insights from RSE Day 2025
RSE Day wants to become an important platform for bringing together researchers and software developers to exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration around sustainable research software.
Save the Date: Following the success of this year’s event, the next RSE Day will take place on June 11, 2026, in Hamburg. Researchers and software developers from across the region are warmly invited to join and contribute to shaping the future of Research Software Engineering.
