Google exploreCSR Grant Awarded US $18k to Seid Muhie Yimam for Empowering Female Students in Ethiopian Computing
Dr. Seid Muhie Yimam, from the House of Computing and Data Science, has secured the Google exploreCSR grant for his project "Empowering Women in AI and NLP: Advancing Opportunities in Ethiopian Universities."
The initiative will provide specialized training in programming for AI, NLP, and Data Science to female bachelor and master students from selected Ethiopian universities. Collaborating with the ICT4D group at Bahir Dar University, this project aims to bridge the gender gap in tech and foster diversity in the industry. This award represents a significant step toward gender equality in computing in Ethiopia.

TensorFlow exploreCSR Addon awards US $10k to Seid Muhie Yimam
To further support the exploreCSR program, TensorFlow granted an addon US $10k. The add-on funding from TensorFlow is to supplement our ExploreCSR grant. The main goals are:
- Equip female students with practical programming and data science skills.
- Facilitate hands-on learning in AI, NLP, and machine learning.
- Encourage students to pursue graduate studies and careers in computing.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
